English Olympiad's local preliminary round

On 7th December 29 students from 3 secondary schools of our county were enrolled to take part
in the county contest of the Republican Olympiad. All in all, 26 students participated. The
students were tested on their listening, reading, grammar and vocabulary skills.

The higest result (34 points) was achieved by Martin Piir from VKG, the next
results (31 points) belonged to 2 students Marek Koemets (Parksepa Secondary
School) and Kaspar Koort (VKG).

Thank you, teachers, for your daily work at teaching students. It is more than just teaching a subject, it means giving these young people a chance to communicate with the whole world.

And the best of luck to Martin Piir in the Republican Olympiad!

Form 8 Translation Competition

On 6th December 32 eighth formers gathered at Võru Kreutzwald Gümnasium to put their language and translation skills to test. This year, they had to translate a text about ˝Harry Potter“. Students had 3 hours to put the English text into nice and accurate Estonian. Like always, they had Estonian-English, English-Estonian and English-English paper dictionaries to help them.

The best transaltions belong to Hebo Rahman from Osula Basic School, Sandra Eowyn Karu  from VKG, Laura Männiste from  Varstu Secondary School, Rasmus Saar from  Parksepa Secondary School and Mari Vijard from  Antsla Gymnasium.

Many thanks to all teachers helping students to prepare.

And a huge thank you to Merle Paat and her helpers for preparing the competition materials and checking the translations.
