English Olympiad's local preliminary round

On 7th December 29 students from 3 secondary schools of our county were enrolled to take part
in the county contest of the Republican Olympiad. All in all, 26 students participated. The
students were tested on their listening, reading, grammar and vocabulary skills.

The higest result (34 points) was achieved by Martin Piir from VKG, the next
results (31 points) belonged to 2 students Marek Koemets (Parksepa Secondary
School) and Kaspar Koort (VKG).

Thank you, teachers, for your daily work at teaching students. It is more than just teaching a subject, it means giving these young people a chance to communicate with the whole world.

And the best of luck to Martin Piir in the Republican Olympiad!

Form 8 Translation Competition

On 6th December 32 eighth formers gathered at Võru Kreutzwald Gümnasium to put their language and translation skills to test. This year, they had to translate a text about ˝Harry Potter“. Students had 3 hours to put the English text into nice and accurate Estonian. Like always, they had Estonian-English, English-Estonian and English-English paper dictionaries to help them.

The best transaltions belong to Hebo Rahman from Osula Basic School, Sandra Eowyn Karu  from VKG, Laura Männiste from  Varstu Secondary School, Rasmus Saar from  Parksepa Secondary School and Mari Vijard from  Antsla Gymnasium.

Many thanks to all teachers helping students to prepare.

And a huge thank you to Merle Paat and her helpers for preparing the competition materials and checking the translations.

Students' events in December

 6 December at 10.00 in Võru Kreutzwald Gymnasium Conference Room the annual Form 8 Translation Competition - final round.
The students will have until 13.00

Dear Teachers,
Due to the growing numbers of participants and therefore also of the time spent on correcting the translations, the organisers of the event ask that every school holds a preliminary round and sends maximum of 4 students to the final round.

Short Drama Festival 2012

On 24th November the basic school students of our county could participate in a drama festival. More than 140 students  from Võru Kesklinna Gymnasium, Haanja Basic School, Parksepa Secondary School, Võru Kreutzwald Gymnasium, Mõniste School, Kääpa Basic School and Varstu Secondary School participated. Writing the plays, preparing the prompts, performing with friends and seeing what other peers have brought on stage was really fun for everybody who participated.

Of course, the preparation for such a festival means much work for students as well as teachers. A big thank you to every one because the result is worth it!

Thanks to the support of our county government all the students participating could enjoy pancakes and cocoa during the break.

Our special THANK YOUs go to Marju Purge and Tiia Raag for their great work at arranging the activity.

Internet Quiz results

On 8th November at 18.00 sharp all secondary school students could find questions on the theme ˝England“ on the screens of their computers in case they could find time for it. Altogether, there were 54 students from 7 different schools of our county and  Nõo Upper-Secondary School of Sciences who took the time to participate.

The highest score of points (45) got Anett Hollas from Võru Kreutzwald Gymnasium, the second result (41 points) belonged to Gert Neeve from Antsla Gymnasium and the third result (39 points) was given to 2 students Kristin Moppel and Elmer Ekker from Võru Kreutzwald Gymnasium.
