Secondary School Students' Speech Contest

Another annual  Speech Contest for Secondary School Students was held on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 1 o'clock p.m. at Võru Kreutzwald Gymnasium's Mirror Hall.

Like last year, the speech had to be 3-5 minutes long and there was more than one topic to choose from tomake the contest more varied.
This year's topics were:
 
1) One reason why it's nice to live in Estonia
2) Why is Australia young people's dreamland?
3) If you aren't on facebook, you don't exist.

This year, there were 22 participants from 5 different schools (Võru Kreutzwald Gymnasium, Varstu Gymnasium, Antsla Gymnasium, Parksepa Secondary School and Vastseliina Gymnasium).

The students were graded by Merle Paat, Merle Mändmets, , Merit Kokk, Maila Vilu, Eve Unt, Maive Salakka and Helen Parker (University of Tartu).

The best speakers in 2012 were:

I    STEN TOOM  
(Võru Kreutzwald Gymnasium 11d, teacher: Maive Salakka, with 96 points)

II  TOOMAS HÄIDE
(Võru Kreutzwald Gymnasium 12a, teacher: Ruth Talmet, with 91.5 points)

III MARTIN ZIEHR
(Võru Kreutzwlad Gymnasium 12d, teacher: Eve Sõmer, with 90 points)

IV   RASMUS OJAOTS
(Vastseliina Gymnasium form 11, teacher: Jelizaveta Gubenko, with 88.5 points)

V    KERTU PAVEL
(Antsla Gymnasium form 10, teacher: Merle Paat, with 86 points)

Students' events in February

On Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 1 o'clock p.m. the annual Secondary School Students' Speech Contest at Võru Kreutzwald Gymnasium's Mirror Hall.

Like last year, there is going to be more than one topic to choose from. The speech has to be between 3-5 minutes long. Please register the contestants by February 13 by emailing the name/s of your student/s to Maive at maive.salakka@gmail.com.
